International Olympic Committee – IOC 

The International Olympic Committee is the supreme authority of the Olympic Movement.

Acting as a catalyst for collaboration between all parties of the Olympic family, from the National Olympic Committees (NOCs), the International Sports Federations (IFs), the athletes, the Organising Committees for the Olympic Games (OCOGs), to the TOP partners, broadcast partners and United Nations agencies, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) shepherds success through a wide range of programmes and projects. On this basis it ensures the regular celebration of the Olympic Games, supports all affiliated member organisations of the Olympic Movement and strongly encourages, by appropriate means, the promotion of the Olympic values.

Department: Corporate Communications & Public Affairs Location: Lausanne, Switzerland Contract Type: Internship (12 months) Activity Level: 100% Entry Date: 01.04.2024 You will support the implementation of the IOC Sustainability & Legacy communications strategies, and related communication projects.

Main Responsibilities

Sustainability & Legacy

  • Helps create the editorial calendar for key projects including Olympic Games Paris 2024, Olympic anniversaries and the IOC’s involvement in sustainability-related conferences such as the UN Climate and Biodiversity Summits (COP29 and COP16)
  • Supports the creation of web and digital content around Paris 2024 sustainability and legacy, Olympic Anniversaries, and the IOC’s climate and biodiversity work by performing research, drafting web stories, selecting relevant images etc.
  • Creates engaging social media posts to support the delivery of the IOC sustainability and legacy communications strategy
  • Coordinates relevant teams internally (sustainability, legacy, translation, web, images etc), to ensure timely publications of sustainability and legacy content across IOC channels
  • Coordinates relationship with external content distribution service; supports cooperation with the sustainability communications agency.

Our Requirements

  • University degree in Science Communications or a similar field, at the at the intersection of science and communications.
  • Minimum one year’s experience in communication or sustainability-related role.
  • Excellent writing skills in English.
  • Excellent knowledge of social media and digital.
  • Native-level knowledge of English; good command of French is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of office automation tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and corporate tools *SharePoint, Outlook).
  • Solid knowledge, interest and understanding of sustainability.
  • Willingness to keep abreast of latest developments in the field of sustainability.
  • Excellent ability to turn technical, scientific information into compelling and accessible content.
  • Excellent sense of planning and organisation.
  • Interest in sport, culture and Olympism.
